Christmas 1968

Well it was quite a Christmas in 1968 at the Kagerer house, my father bought a Craig Model 212 reel to reel tape recorder. This recorder was given to my brother Mike who was 14 at the time. For the next few years, dad would record several key events in our lives.

My mom was clearing out her basement, and part of the pile was the Craig 212. The recorder wasn't working correctly but by taking it apart, and holding it "just right", I could tell that there was still good (questionable) media on the tapes.

My friend Dennis Gilsdorf still had a reel to reel and was able to digitize these tapes from the Kagerer Archive. His deck was stereo, so when we digitized the tapes, one channel was mono in one direction, and the second channel was the other side of the tape in reverse. Through the marvels of modern electronics, we were able to save all these recordings. My father and my brother Mike are no longer with us to enjoy these, I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane.
